Greg Russell at Carrington Folk Club 8.30 pm Wednesday 19 September 2018

Greg Russell plays and sings with a maturity and emotion that belies his 25 years. He plays guitar and bouzouki but it’s his voice that’s been called ‘extraordinary’ and ‘full of character’. He won the 2013 BBC Young Folk Award then the Horizon Award in his regular duo with fiddler Ciaran Algar, but last year he released his debut solo album “Inclined to be Red” which was declared ‘a powerful statement’. He was asked to join the 40th anniversary production of “The Transports” and was musical director of “Shake the Chains” earlier this year gaining a 4 star rating from The Guardian.
